Jaguars ready for a new season

Bortles ready for a new beginning

After leading the league in interceptions last season, the Jacksonville Jaguars are confident that Blake Bortles will not lead in that category this season.  His work in the offseason has paid off as Bortles was named a team captain for offense which shows the trust the coaching staff has in his ability along with defensive team captain Paul Posluszny and special teams team captain Carson Tinker.

“three great picks. Those guys are well-deserving.,” Head Coach Gus Bradley said.

jaguars-2“Blake has really been self-improving,” general manager Dave Caldwell said. “He’s taken the bull by the horns in terms of how he goes about his business.  Hopefully, Blake will continue to improve and build. But he’s in a good stage in his development. And make no mistake, he’s still developing.”

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are coming into the game as favorites and under Mike McCarthy and Rodgers, the offense has been a work of art while Clay Matthews anchors a defense that ranked 12th last year…look for both to improve this season.

Jags lose first preseason game

Bortles looks sharp in Opener

Blake Bortles took what he was given and didn’t force anything.  He finished 6/7 for 105 yards in a 13-17 loss to the New York Jets. Receiver Allen Robinson caught three passes for 80 yards and Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon combined to rush for 52 rushing yards and one touchdown on 10 carries.

“We want to come out and be sharp with our operation in and out of the huddle, no mental errors, lining up correctly, shifts and motions, and all that,” quarterback Blake Bortles said. “And obviously take care of the ball. I thought for the most part it was good.”

The Jaguars will look to collect their first win next week when they face Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home next weekend.  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are available so be sure to grab yours today and help cheer on your Jaguars!

Jaguars may have become the most improved team in the NFL

After a dismal 5-11 season, the Jacksonville Jaguars knew that they need to make major changes in their squad and as the preseason opener approaches, it is looking more and more like the Jaguars were successful in implementing a plan to bring in veterans and select draft picks that made a difference.

Check.

In free agency, the Jaguars made key additions to key areas including upgrading the offensive line (signed OT Kelvin Beachum,)  pass rushing (signed DE Malik Jackson) the secondary (signed CB Prince Amukamara and SS Tashaun Gipson) .

The draft was a pleasant surprise as the Jags selected who they thought would be the number one selection, Florida State DB Jalen Ramsey who fell to their 5th selection. In the second, their slotted 5th selection, LB Myles Jack, was still on the board so the Jaguars stuck with the pick and drafted him in the second round.  The rest of the picks were selections that will make the team stronger in the long run including a quarterback, two defensive ends, two linebackers and a defensive tackle..

The Jaguars kick off preseason on the road against the New York Giants.  They make their preseason home debut in week two with a preseason match up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Tickets for all preseason and regular season games are available now so be sure to get yours today and help cheer on your Jacksonville jaguars!
