Jaguars losing skid could reach four games

…I think it will only get better

The Jacksonville Jaguars new offensive coordinator went through his first game with the Jags last week but with the same result, a loss that saddled them with a 2-6 record.

Changing the system mid-season is always questionable

The fact that the team fired Offensive Coordinator Greg Olson after week seven after he and Head Coach Gus Bradley failed to connect on a number of issues, namely the run game.

“Tough day…but regression offensively was the reason,” Olson jaguars-5told the NFL’s Ian Rapoport of his firing. “Couldn’t find an identity in the run game which significantly hurts Blake’s strengths as a QB. … Made great strides last year but didn’t follow up on the expectations. … Would be easy to look for excuses and it hurts, but part of the responsibility of being an OC.”

With Quarterbacks Coach Nathaniel Hackett’s promotion to Olson’s job, QB Blake Bortles had a great day going 22-41 for 252 yards, two touchdowns and one int. On top of that, the running game kicked in and added 205 rushing yards but still fell short in the 19-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

“I think it will help us find a rhythm,” Bortles said.  “You could tell those guys felt good about it.  “Anytime you run for 200 yards in the NFL it’s a big day and something to be proud of. One thing is even though we went for 200 we still left a lot of yards on the field.

Jags trying to avoid 0-3 start

Is Coach Bradley on the hot seat?

The Jacksonville Jaguars were well on their way to securing their first win of the season over the Baltimore Ravens and were in the middle of a game ending drive when that fickle fate stepped back in after the team went up by one point.

“I felt like we got conservative with six minutes left in the game,” Sen’Derrick Marks told ESPN’s Mike DiRocco Sunday jaguars-4afternoon. “You can’t do that. If it comes down to it and it bites you in the butt like it did (on Sunday), then it’s basically that’s why you’re the [expletive] Jaguars. You can’t do that. You have to put teams away. We had plenty of chances and we didn’t do it and they capitalized the exact same way they did at their home last year.”

The Ravens tried to hand the game to the Jaguars, throwing four interceptions and suffering through a muffed punt and blocked field goal. Still the Jaguars could not capitalize.

“For me, definitely [confidence has not wavered],” QB Blake Bortles said. “I think continuing to get better [is what must happen]. Have to play better as a quarterback. Have to play better as an offense for this team to be successful.”

The path does not get any easier for the Jaguars as they travel to London to take on the 3-0 Indianapolis Colts before coming back to the USA to face the Chicago Bears in Chicago.  The next home game for the Jags will be October 23rd against the Oakland Raiders.  Plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so grab yours today!

Jaguars ready to bounce back this week

Chris Ivory slated to return

The Jacksonville Jaguars have begun the season with an 0-2 record that nobody saw coming.  With a squad with as much talent on it, it was kind of unfathomable.  But injuries and some erratic passes from Blake Bortles and a defense that could not stop a very determined/humiliated Chargers squad has led them to this.  Now they have to face the 2-0 Baltimore Ravens

Now, with Chris Ivory back in limited practice, Bortles may get some pressure taken off of him if the running game can get going.  The run offense is currently ranked 30th. A rough start indeed.

“You take a look back and you sit back and you re-evaluate jaguars-3things,” head coach Gus Bradley said. “I think we observed what happened, and we interpreted what happened. Now, we have to apply it. That’s where we’re at now. We have to apply it. We have to take a look at these things.”

The Jaguars also have to solve their penalty issues, which don’t seem to have been addressed since early preseason.  The Jaguars have been called for 23 penalties for 172 yards while their opponents have eight penalties for 47 yards.

The game kicks off at noon on Sunday and plenty of great seats and affordable tickets are still available so be sure to grab yours today and help cheer on your Jacksonville Jaguars.
