Jacksonville fail to impress in final preseason game

The Jacksonville Jaguars closed out the preseason with their third loss as they fell to the Atlanta Falcons 24-14 Thursday night.  Blake Bortles, the Jags  3rd overall pick in the 2014 Draft did well enough, going 4-6 for 86 yards and a touchdown.  The team will have to get down to the mandatory 53 players by August 30th.

The Jaguars open the regular season against the Philadelphia Eagles, Sunday September 7th at 1pm.  Plenty of great seats are still available, so get yours now and support your Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fans and Pundits debate Bortles, Henne

Even though he was the 3rd overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Chad Henne is still slotted as the starter for the 2014 Jaguars, not Blake Bortles.  Henne was picked up in the middle of the season when Blane Gibbert went down. Gibbert has since been traded to the San Francisco 49er’s and the coaching staff want to give Henne the opportunity to play a full season.  GM Dave Caldwell told ESPN’s Britt McHenry the same on his talk show.

“To be honest with you, probably 2015.  We’d like to give Chad this whole year and go with Chad this year.”

Don’t plan on Blackmon spot opening up

The Jacksonville Jaguars have made it clear that the club does not plan on cutting much embattled receiver Justin Blackmon who is serving an indefinite suspension for violation of the league’s Drug Policy.

Back from his last suspension, Blackmon recorded 19 catches for 326 yards before his current suspension cut short his season.
